I'd say Białystok is a pretty safe city, as long as you're not visibly queer. It's infamous for being homophobic and especially late at night (though not exclusively) your appearance may be commented upon. I've never experienced physical assault, although there are neighbourhoods where cliques of people, often very young and/or under the influence, will try to talk to you. Overall - I'd just try my best to blend into the crowd and be reasonably polite.

As a foreigner in Bilaystok only thing I worry about is the people doesnt know english. Some of them gets aggressive very easily because they dont understand you. But all of the reactions are like speaking loudly(sometimes I get offended) and they look at you without any smile, aggressively directly into your eyes. Thats weird for me.

It's a very safe place where you can start your first solo trip. If you are a backpacker like me, it's a really cheap destination to begin your travel journey. That's what I was doing - it's my first baby step. I felt very safe, didn't spend too much money, the food is delicious, locals are friendly. I really enjoyed it.

Hi, I'm Ania. *positive girl ☀️ *starting my day with a smile (I'm trying haha) Smile is something that can make other's day and that's why I'm trying that hard *too many things, which I like I'm interested in many things and I'm not excellent in anything, but I love all of them so much. *curious about the world I want to explore this world (people, food, culture, view) because our surrounding is so so so beautiful. I'm so grateful for everything what is around me. *speaking Polish (my first language), English and I have the basics in Spanish and German (very bad level of the last two)
