I felt very safe in Greece. I was there on a holiday trip with my family, and we went to Paros, Naxos & Athen. It was absolutely stunning and amazing. The food is great, and the atmosphere is great. I even went out on nights alone, and I felt so safe:)
Posted: April 16, 2024Feel really safe in every places. Recommendation to visit the Islands. The food is too expensive for the quality, as in Italy. Locals are really friendly, we enjoyed to stay in homestay. You can travel by boat easily.
Posted: March 29, 2024First solo travel experience and it was great. Felt safe the entire time both in Athens and the islands (Naxos, Santorini, Crete) Was definitely more cautious and aware of my surroundings in Athens and didn't stay out late after dark, but would have felt safe doing so. Islands felt 100% safe, no concerns at all. People everywhere were super friendly and helpful and speak English so no language barrier if you are a native English speaker. Got scammed on transportation from ferry terminal to hotel on Santorini so definitely arrange transportation to your lodging facility before hand. Overall trip was 10/10!
Posted: February 15, 2024Experienced: May, 2022This year I went alone and it was fantastic. My route included Athens, Corfu, Zakynthos, Meteora, Crete, Milos and Santorini for a month. A beautiful and safe country with friendly and helpful people. The transport was good, the ferries were great for crossing to the islands. I recommend taking a tour in every place. You will get to know it better than by yourself.

Posted: September 25, 2022Travel itinerary: 4 days: Corfu 3 days: Lefkada 2 days: Ithaca 2 days: Zakynthos 3 days: Kefalonia Safety: I felt very safe throughout. Recommendations: Corfu is a beautiful island and is ideal for kitesurfing.
Posted: September 25, 2022Travel plan: Mykonos - 3 days Syros - 2 days Paros - 3 days Milos - 4 days Naxos - 2 days Santorini - 1 day Safety: I felt safe walking alone and people were friendly. Recommendations: Milos is amazing, as is Santorini (although crowded).
Posted: September 25, 2022Travel Plan: Santorini: 3 days Paros: 3 days Mykonos: 4 days Athens: 1 day Safety: I felt completely safe. Recommendations: Mykonos is very touristic and I didn't particularly enjoy it. Santorini is also touristic, but its incredible beauty makes it worth visiting.

Greece is a safe country. Of course, there are areas where you could potentially be robbed, but there's no need to avoid the entire country. You should be particularly cautious in the metro and on buses with your personal belongings. Also, keep in mind that if something unfortunate happens, it's not always the fault of the Greeks; there are people from almost all nationalities living here. Despite these precautions, you can enjoy a country with sun nearly all year round, great weather, numerous cultural monuments, and of course, the sea.
Posted: April 28, 2024In my opinion, Greece is no longer safe. You may feel safe when you walk around but there are many weird and creepy guys who may follow you or start talking to you and make you uncomfortable and worried. Be careful and stay safe

I travelled to Greece in 2020 and the experience was amazing. I travelled with a group and experience many different areas and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I would definitely go back and visit some of the other islands that I did not get to see. I was a bit disappointed to see how they live where their homes were, but overall it was a great experience, the tourist that I went on were fantastic. I got to meet a lot of wonderful people and experience the culture of Greece.
Posted: March 16, 2024I was in Greece in July on my own - first 2 days in Athens, then a cheap flight to Santorini. I highly recommend it. It was hot, but amazing. Santorini is a small island; you can rent a scooter and go around the island in 1-2 days. I don't recommend staying in Oia or Thira, as the prices are high and there are lots of people. I stayed in Perissa and it was great. Overall, Greece pleasantly surprised me and I definitely want to go back there, even if just for the food.
