I loved Venice! Despite all the tourists you can find quiet places, you just have to get away from the typical tourist routes. I felt very safe. The food is so yummy - do some research to not end in a tourist trap though.

It was super - so much art - about food: I only take Cicchettino and mozzarella in carrozza… outside so expensive - so much beautiful the sea and the quiet - it’s really really safe, like a bubble - Venice accent is so funny - you louse yourself on the bridges, are many … - it was unique, I will return

Felt safe as a solo female traveller, I stayed in a hostel and made a really nice group of friends - although watch out for pick pockets! Really pretty city and relatively inexpensive if you stay away from the busier and more touristic areas - go down little side streets and you’ll find some hidden gems for food and drink. Would recommend finding a group if you want a gondola ride as it was €100 which isn’t too bad when split between 5 people. Overall a really lovely city.
Posted: January 31, 2024I was in Venice in February. I felt very safe there and it was easy to get around the city using water buses. I stayed in an AirBnB over the Grand Canal and the street it was on was always busy with many shops, cafes, and restaurants, so it was easy to go out for dinner in the evening and sit in a cafe, watching the world go by. Great city to walk around.
Posted: September 25, 2023I visited Venice alone and didn't feel unsafe. I was never out really late, but I didn't feel like I had to hurry back before dark. After dusk, all the bridges and narrow streets of Venice looked the same, so I used different things as landmarks to make sure I was heading in the right direction - statues, shop displays, etc.
Posted: September 18, 2023I went on a solo trip to Venice and stayed at the Anda hostel and, honestly, it was amazing. I felt very safe there, it was clean, there were many social events, and it was also cheap. Generally speaking, I felt very safe in Venice as a woman traveling alone, however, it was very easy to get lost in Venice, but I think that was the best part.
Posted: April 13, 2023To do: * We went on a one-day trip to Burano * We visited the Acqua Alta bookstore * We visited St. Mark's Square * We took a gondola ride * We visited the Rialto Bridge and watched the sunset there Safety: I felt very safe. Budget: * Breakfast: 9 € * Gondola ride: 80 € for 30 minutes * Venetian mask: 20 € * Lunch: 20 € * Accommodation: 100 €/night * Venetian Spritz: 3 € Accommodation: I stayed at the Generator. It was nice and clean. Recommendations: Don't use expensive private water taxis. The Vaporetto (Venetian public water buses) is cheap and reliable.
Posted: July 14, 2022Things to do: 1. St. Mark's Basilica 2. Bridge of Sighs 3. Banksy's Migrant Child 4. St. Mark's Campanile 5. Gondola ride 6. Acqua Alta Bookshop 7. Rialto Bridge 8. Boat ride on the Grand Canal Eating: If you are visiting Venice, you must try Aperitivo Spritz and cicchetti. Safety: Venice is a very safe city, just pay attention to your wallet when you're in tourist areas. Accommodation: I stayed at a hostel on the mainland, in Mestre. Recommendations: Venice is a very small place and the streets are narrow, so be prepared for large crowds.
Posted: July 13, 2022Things to do: 1. Gondola ride 2. Touring Burano and Murano 3. Exploring canals and narrow streets 4. Visiting the Rialto Bridge Food: The food was usually very mediocre and overpriced. Safety: During my stay in Venice, I felt very safe. Recommendations: Venice is full of bridges and stairs, so be prepared for that.
Posted: July 12, 2022To do: Places I visited and recommend to see: 1. Rialto Bridge 2. St. Mark's Campanile 3. F. Tedeschi Terrace 4. Bridge of Sighs 5. Acqua Alta Bookstore 6. St. Mark's Square 7. Bovolo Staircase 8. Gondola ride Safety: I always felt absolutely safe. Recommendations: I went on a one-day trip to Murano and Burano. Murano is known for its glassmaking. Burano is an island of lacemakers and brightly colored houses.
Posted: July 11, 2022Venice is pretty safe except the pickpockets. But if you stay on the mainland (Mestre or Marghera) it is better to be aware all the time. Mestre is one of the most dangerous cities in Italy. i recommend to keep you money and personal stuff very close to yourself.

The city on the water is very impressive and I've never seen anything like that before! There were SO MANY tourists. I've been there two days and on the second day I went off the main island and it felt much more authentic. I really recommended taking a swim in the sea and taking late evening public transportation boats.
Posted: August 10, 2023Experienced: June, 2023Too crowded in summer, but the food and the architecture was worth visiting. Expensive but delicious food. Avoid visiting on Easter holidays, it eilld be different to move around due to lots of tourists.

Hello, I am an Erasmus student from Istanbul, Turkey. I am in Venice until the end of June. I have been traveling but my budget is limited. I would be open for meeting up and showing around in Venice also, in Istanbul, when I go back. Since I'm currently staying in a dorm, I can't be a host.
